Online Adult Flexibility Classes

Classes for Beginners & Beyond

“All levels” classes are a great fit for beginners and beyond. Each class will focus specifically on active flexibility, learning to engage and strengthen our muscles to support stretched positions, like learning to engage your glutes to better stretch your inner thighs in a middle split or frogger, or working on the shoulder strength and flexibility needed to push into, and hold, a bridge. Variations/modifications will also be given for more advanced students depending on individuals’ goals.

All Levels Flexibility: Splits & Hip Flexibility

Tuesdays, 12pm-1pm Central Time US (or via recording)

An all-levels class specifically focused on helping you get your splits (or oversplits)! Class will be organized around a stretching routine that uses active flexibility stretches to target the various areas that support our front and middle splits: hamstrings, hip flexors, psoas and adductors (inner thighs). Whether you are working on being able to touch your toes, or are aiming to add another block to your oversplit, we'll have modifications of exercises for all levels.

Class Length: 60 minutes
Cost: $20 USD for a drop in, $70 USD for a 4-class pack
Recordings Available: Yes! All students will receive a copy of the class recording after the class - perfect if you’re not able to join live. The recordings do not expire.

All Levels Flexibility: Backbends & Back Flexibility

Thursdays, 12pm-1pm Central Time US (or via recording)

This mixed-levels class is aimed to help strengthen and stretch the whole "backbending chain:" hip flexors, lower back, core, upper back, shoulders, and neck - to support your back & shoulder flexibility. Variations of exercises will be given for all levels. Whether you're a beginner who can't yet push up into a bridge, or a regularly practicing contortionist, we'll have appropriately challenging-but-achievable drills for you!

Class Length: 60 minutes
Cost: $20 USD for a drop in, $70 USD for a 4-class pack
Recordings Available: Yes! All students will receive a copy of the class recording after the class - perfect if you’re not able to join live. The recordings do not expire.

Classes for Intermediate-Level Students

Mixed-Levels Contortion

Wednesdays, 12pm-1:15pm Central Time US (or via recording)

If you can do a bridge, you can do contortion. These mixed-level classes are aimed at students who have some foundational back and shoulder flexibility (can push up into a bridge pose with straight arms) and want to take that flexibility even further. Classes will be a mix of active flexibility exercises to further strengthen and stretch our back, shoulders and/or hips, as well as specific trick/skill work to take advantage of the flexibility work (ex. contortion bridge variations, forearm stands, leg scales, etc.). Different variations of drills (and skill work progressions) will be offered for varying levels - so students who are brand new to contortion as well as contortionists who’ve been training for years are all welcome in this class.

Want to see a sneak peak of some of the types of exercises we do in contortion classes? Check out this Instagram post!

Prerequisites: Able to hold a bridge with straight arms for 10 seconds (flat splits not required)
Class Length: 75 minutes
Recordings Available: Yes! All students will receive a copy of the class recordings after each class - perfect if you’re not able to join live. The recordings do not expire.

QUESTIONS?

Online Class FAQ

How do the online classes work?

We use Zoom as our video meeting platform. You can join from your PC or any mobile device. A bigger screen is usually helpful so you can see more of the instruction, (personally I prefer to take classes on my laptop) but plenty of people join on their phones.

What’s your cancellation policy?

If your schedule changes and you are no longer able to make a class - don’t worry! The class price includes unlimited access to a recording of the class (which will be sent out within 24 hours after the class ends). So while group classes cannot be cancelled/rescheduled, you’ll still get the benefit of the recording.

Private lessons can be rescheduled up to 12 hours before the scheduled start time using the reschedule link in your registration confirmation email.

Are there minimum/maximum class sizes?

Classes must have at least 3 students registered 4 hours before the start of class for class to run. If only one student is signed up that week, class will be cancelled and the student will be notified via email and can choose to sign up for a different class (of the same length), or receive a refund.

The maximum class size for classes is 8 students to allow for personal attention and feedback.

My son/daughter is younger than 18, which class is the best for them?

Currently the group classes are for adult students (18+) only. But I do offer private 1-on-1 lessons for youth students.
