This 75-min mixed-levels contortion class is all about forearm stands and elbow bridges. Conditioning will focus on stretching/strengthening the hips, back, and shoulders to prepare for balance work in both "closed" shoulder (ex. scorpion) and "open" shoulder (ex. hollowback) poses, at the wall, or balancing. CLASS PREREQUISITE: Can comfortably hold a bridge with straight arms.
Come wake up your rotator cuff to explore the wide world of internal and external shoulder rotation. Instead of our usual arms-reaching-overhead flexibility emphasis, this class is all about stretching and strengthening our shoulder rotation (which is a useful component of reaching arms overhead, AND helps support funky arm positions used in aerials, pole, and beyond). Be prepared to discover some new muscles... PREREQUISITES: None! All levels welcome, including total beginners :)
Think of this like a standing splits class, but with an emphasis on balance. We'll still be hitting the main muscle groups for split-ier standing splits (both with the leg to the front, and the leg out to the side), but include an extra focus on ankle and hip strength for helping balance in one-legged poses. PREREQUISITES: None! All levels welcome (including folks with super tight hips)

This week we'll be working on both our front and middle/straddle splits, and the hip rotation needed to transition from one split to another to make it "around the world!" PREREQUISITES: None! All levels welcome (including folks with super tight hips)
In this all-levels class we'll be working on the active shoulder, back, and hip strength to press up into a bridge / full wheel (or explore more advanced bridge variations for folks already comfortable with their "regular" bridge). Prerequisites: None! All levels welcome, including total beginners :)
In this all-levels flexibility class we'll be working on flattening our (square) front spits, with an emphasis on the rear leg. Drills will focus on stretching the hip flexors while strengthening both the glutes (to pull the leg into deeper extension) AND quads (to help actively straighten the knee). Prepare for a muscle-y class :) PREREQUISITES: None! All levels welcome (including folks with super tight hips)
Prerequisites: None, this class is appropriate for all levels
In this all-levels flexibility class we'll be working towards flattening our SQUARE (hips pointing forwards) front splits (or oversplits, for students who already have flat splits). Whether you're hips are more than a foot off the ground, or you're working on adding an extra block to your oversplit, we'll have drills for you! PREREQUISITES: None! All levels welcome (including folks with super tight hips)
In this all-levels class we'll be working on the back, neck and hip flexibility (and strength!) to bring our toes closer to our heads in various backbends (ex. cobra, pigeon, etc.). It's going to be a butt kicking class (literally). Prerequisites: None! All levels welcome, including total beginners :)
In this all-levels flexibility class we'll be working on inner thigh and hamstring flexibility for "open" (unsquare) splits like Y-scales. PREREQUISITES: None! All levels welcome (including folks with super tight hips)
In this all-levels class we'll be working on the shoulder (and back!) flexibility required to grab your foot and "flip your grip" in various poses (like cobra, pigeon, dancer, etc.) Prerequisites: None! All levels welcome, including total beginners :)
This intermediate+ level class is aimed at students with a good base of leg flexibility (close to flat splits) who want to take their splits further. We'll be working on oversplit prep work and training, as well as standing leg scales (split balances). CLASS PREREQUISITE: Can comfortably hold a bridge with straight arms. Close to flat (hips 4" or closer to the ground) front and middle split (more advanced drills will be offered to students with already flat splits)
In this class we'll go over stretching and strengthening all the major muscle groups in our hips. You can think of it as a "splits AND MORE" class this week :) PREREQUISITES: None! All levels welcome (including folks with super tight hips)
These 90-min classes will focus on teaching the fundamentals of SAFE contortion-style flexibility training. We'll begin with a warm up, then targeted conditioning drills to strengthen, stretch, and stabilize our joints to safely hold a deeper range of motion, tackle contortion-specific skill work, and end with a cool down. Week 1: Bridge variations, Week 2: Needle scales, Week 3: Forearm stands, Week 4: Chin/chest stands. PREREQUISITE: Can comfortably hold a bridge with straight arms.
In this all-levels class we'll be working on drills to increase our hip, lower back, upper back, and neck flexibility to work on different cobra pose variations (including some funky leg options, in additional to the "traditional" splayed legs or toes-to-head work). In this all-levels flexibility class we'll be working on a super active front spilt variation: the standing front split! Class will have a heavy emphasis on hamstring flexibility (to deepen the forward fold component of this split). All levels welcome, even folks who are very far from flat splits. PREREQUISITES: None! This week's leg flexibility class will be focused on strengthening & deepening our hip external rotation (aka "turn out"), both in standing and seated positions. In addition to being desirable for aesthetics in several dance styles, working on strengthening your turn out muscles can also help deepen our splits and forward folds by strengthening the hip stabilizers! So expect some splits work in this class too :) PREREQUISITES: None! All levels welcome (including folks with super tight hips!)
In this all-levels back flexibility class we'll be focusing on using sidebending and core strength to support funky transitions into backbends, working towards dynamic poses like "swooping into camel" or "swooping into a bridge" (for students already comfortable working on bridges). PREREQUISITES: None! Variations of drills will be offered for beginners & advanced students alike

In this all-levels class we'll be focusing on increasing the flexibility in our lower back - which also means learning how to use our hips to deepen our backbends! Prerequisites: None! All levels welcome, including total beginners :)
In this all-levels class we'll be focusing on shoulder flexibility, with an emphasis on arms-overhead shoulder flexibility (useful for things like handstands, deeper bridges, king pigeon, and more). We'll also spend sime time on some of the other complimentary ranges of motion our shoulders move in: extension (reaching behind us), as well as internal & external rotation (hello rotator cuffs!). Prerequisites: None! All levels welcome, including total beginners :)
In this class we'll be working on variations of "fake" or "illusion" splits - playing with split-y shapes and angles to help us look split-er even if we don't have the flexibility for flat splits (super helpful for any pole/circus/dance folks who want to do leg shapes as part of their performance). Looking for a more relaxing leg flexibility class? This week we'll be focusing on holding supported, passive stretches to help our body relax into deeper front splits, middle splits, and straddle pancakes. We'll also experiment with breathing techniques and micro-movements to help our body relax in these positions for a more comfortable practice. 2 yoga blocks strongly recommended for this class. PREREQUISITES: None! All levels welcome (including folks with super tight hips)

In this all-levels class we'll be focusing on thoracic extension (aka "backbending from the upper back). If you feel like your upper back behaves like a plank of wood in your backbends or body rolls, this class is for you! Drills will be offered for all levels, from super stiff bodies to contortion level bendy folk. PREREQUISITES: None! All levels welcome, including total beginners :)
